The Aged Care Quality Standards are now in effect

The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission expects organisations providing aged care services in Australia to comply with the Quality Standards

Standard No 7: Human Resources

The organisation has a workforce that is sufficient, and is skilled and qualified to provide respectful and quality care and services.

The Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety was established on 8th October 2018. The Commission released an Interim Report entitled ‘Neglect’ which found that a fundamental overhaul of the design, objectives, regulation and funding of aged care in Australia is required.

The Interim Report identifies systemic problems in aged care with a system that relies on a regulatory model that does not provide transparency or an incentive to improve, and has a workforce that is under pressure and under-appreciated and that lacks key skills.

The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) online register of practitioners has accurate, up to date information about the registration status of all registered health practitioners in Australia. It is an important way the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme helps keep the public safe. If a practitioner’s name does not appear on the register, they are not registered to practise in Australia.

dutyof.care can help you monitor the status of your Allied Health professionals giving you more time to concentrate on delivering exceptional service to the vulnerable people in your care.
